Smith Farms

This was one of those trips that no one will ever forget!

Our main mission was to enjoy the great outdoors and work on our farming merit badges.

We received an invitation from a farmer just west of the Mississippi to camp out in one of the most beautiful meadows ever seen.  The aspect we hadn't planned on was that a large herd of cows spent a few days there just before our troop arrived.  Fortunately we were prepared.  There was a huge coal shovel on board the Troop 374 Trailer that was used to remove a substantial number of fresh cow pies.  Glen, our SPL, took charge of the situation and by sunset, camp was set.

After camp was set, the scouts were able to enjoy the land.

During the day on Saturday, we headed over to another farm to learn all kinds of interesting facts about farming.

Each scout took a turn driving a John Deer Tractor.

The photos below show the souvenirs that the cows left for Troop 374.

Sunday morning, the troop packed up and headed to another nearby farm for lunch.
