Submarine 2009

For the 9th time in nine years the scouts decided they wanted their January campout to take place on a World War II Submarine.  Troop 374 ventured up to Muskegon Michigan to stay on board the U.S.S. Silversides.

Upon arriving the scouts were given a tour of the sub.  They bought their gear on board, and shortly after, the 20 pizzas that showed up were totally consumed.

It is customary for the scouts to dine at Russ' Restaurant in Muskegon.

After a filling breakfast at Russ's everyone felt well nourished and ready for sledding.  We headed Southwest to Lake Harbor Park (next door to Maranatha) and spent a few hours on the sleds.  In the process the troop consumed about five gallons of hot chocolate.

Some of Mr. Pearson's favorite relatives live near the park.  They dropped by to chat and have a cup of our world famous hot chocolate.

A trip like this is simply not possible without the collective efforts of the troop leadership and some active parents.  A hearty THANK YOU goes to each of you.  Because of each of you, we had just enough passenger space to carry all 37.  If even one of you had not made the trip, we would not have had enough room for all the scouts to go.  An additional hearty THANK YOU goes to Mr. Loiacano for allowing the troop us use his van yet again.
