2009 - Troop 374 Trip to The Warren Dunes
August 7-9, 2009
The rain stopped for a while so we could set up the dining shelter and tents:
For dinner the scouts cooked their own hot dogs over the fire.
It rained Friday night and well into Saturday morning.
Master Chef Max created his masterpieces.
After the rain subsided we took our first hike down to the beach.
Then we climbed Mt. Fuller, the tallest sand dune. Winds were gusty so the lifeguards encouraged caution.
One scout creates his rendition of what the inside of a volcano looks like:
The walk back to camp. Note the milky colored river. Many people took a mud bath. (clay)
After a filling lunch of grilled cheese, the troop headed back to the waterfront.
Dinner was a real treat. Tacos!
After dinner, the scouts took yet another hike back to the beach to watch the sunset. Upon returning, the scouts invited campers from nearby sites to stop by for Smahk-oos, a troop 374 delicacy. It consists of soft taco shells (heated on a skillet) with marshmallows and chocolate chips melted inside.
The sunrise was beautiful on Sunday morning. The scouts had cereal for breakfast before we headed back to Wheaton.
